"Stuck in a Lenny Bruce Time Warp" is a show conceived by The Meltdown Incentive.
Inspiration is derived from Lenny Bruce censorship, and the stigma around "colorful" language.
A varied collection of texts that touch on humor, sadness, shock, romance, grocery stores, beer,
breasts, and more will be presented in an uncensored manner. The texts will be wrought from the
performers’ personal experiences, as well as famous poets (think Maya Angelou, local poet Lisa DeSiro),
beat poetry, political satire, bizarre recipes, raunchy craigslist ads, prolific quotes (Lenny Bruce),
and audience participation. All music is improvised; the genres run the gamut from classical art song,
sprecshtimme, blues, jazz, humorous motives from famous songs, to screaming metal.
World-renowned percussionist Ra-Kalam Bob Moses will join us for this exploration.
